The Foundation of Healing: Our Hope

There is hope! I say again, there is hope! Everywhere we look on this earth we see death, but we also see life. Somehow in the midst of all the destruction and death there is still so much beauty. But was this world always meant to be this way?

We live in a world where disease is rampant.

Heart disease and cancer being the top two culprits in taking the lives of so many people we love. Even in the midst of a so-called pandemic, the leading causes of death continue to be heart disease at #1, and cancer at #2. So why does disease and death exist? Why do we lose the ones we love most?

Were we meant to fall in love with someone and spend 30, 40, 50, years with them, only to feel the heart wrenching pain of losing them?

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that we were never meant to experience these things. But why? Why then do we lose the ones we love? Why did cancer take my daughter? Why did my father have to die of a heart attack?

The answer lies at the beginning.

In the ancient book of Genesis, we see a picture, a beautiful picture of a perfect God creating a perfect world. God created everything with the purpose of having it live forever, and on the sixth day, God made mankind, male and female, and He made everything else for the purpose of pleasing us and giving us, human beings, joy. So then what happened? Because clearly that isn't the world that you and I live in today.

In Genesis chapter three, we encounter a serpent, a being, an enemy, that deceives mankind into distrusting their Creator of love, and in that distrust we lost our connection to God, our connection to the source of life.

But it was our first parents, that made the choice themselves to disconnect from the source of life and love. And then something happened. All of a sudden something came into existence, that God never meant to exist.

Death. Disease.

We lost our connection to the source of life and by choosing to do so, we inherited death. We brought death into this world. Not God.

Maybe you are unfamiliar with the story of Adam and Eve. I encourage you to read the story for yourself. There are many powerful life lessons we can draw from it.

But at the heart of this story we find the answer to this question that haunts so many of us. But so what you might say? Great now there's death and God left us alone to deal with it.

Do I just accept this?

Is there no hope?

Whoever you are, I'm here to tell you that there is hope. The story doesn't end there. God made a way for us to overcome death.

Yes that's right. There is a way to overcome death and disease.

God didn't leave us alone to fend for ourselves.

We may have distrusted Him and turned our back to Him but the entire Bible from that point on is the history of God pursuing us. Never turning his back on us. Constantly trying to woe us back to Him with His love.

Disease is the result of the choices we make. The fact that the top two killers in the world are diseases that are completely preventable is so appropriate. We have continued the legacy of our first parents and we continue to choose death rather than life.

You reader have the power. The power of choice. We can choose death or life. This is especially true of heart disease and cancer. We are the ones that choose what we are putting into our bodies. And in doing so, we are literally choosing between life and death every single day of our lives.

God has given us the medicine we need to overcome death. God has given us fruits and vegetables to sustain our lives and give us strength. Strength to love. Strength to endure the hardships of life.

But there is a gift above all others that He has given us. He gave us Himself.

My hope and my prayer dear reader, is that you will choose life today, and continue to choose life every day. Re-connect yourself with the source of life and love.

Make better choices for your health and the health of those you love.

And I promise you. You will overcome death. You will find a peace that passes understanding. And you will find an eternal love that will never fade but will only grow stronger with time.

God bless you beloved.

Let health, love, and peace follow you all the days of your life.
